Warlingham’s 1st XV, still beset with injury and unavailability issues,
travelled to Exiles without a win and were still unable to turn their commitment
into league points. An early penalty from the half way line from new signing
Peter Jecks just dipped under the cross bar and a long kick and chase from
full back Brad Kearney just crossed the dead ball line as the following backs
closed in. Warlingham’s defence, with winger Adam Downie-keen and teenage
fly-half Louis Rossi-Jones prominent, held firm for the first quarter of the game.
However, a harsh refereeing decision when prop Chris Eyles stole a loose ball,
gave a penalty to Exiles who took the first points of the afternoon. A suspect
forward pass went unnoticed and Exiles scored their first converted try.

Flanker Henry Payne took the play out of the Warlingham half with a booming
kick to touch on the Exiles line but the home side recovered the ball and, with
swift back play, scored a second try. At the half-time whistle it was all to play for and
Warlingham took the game to Exiles with drives by No 8 Freddie Hick and captain
Alex Skinner stealing balls at will. Exiles got their third try from a strong rolling maul
before Jecks got Warlingham’s first points with a well struck penalty. Scrum half Alex
Sampson and debutante centre Josh Coakes played their part in worrying the Exiles
defence but some shabby tackling in the midfield led to Exiles bonus point try. Two
more Exiles’ tries followed in quick succession but the Warlingham struck back when
Coakes made a break and fed winger Ollie Reynoldson who claimed a deserved try
converted by Jecks.

Exiles had the last hurrah with a final try leaving Warlingham rooted to the bottom of the table. Warlingham’s Head Coach, Paddy Dennien, said, “We included some young players today and I was pleased at their work rate and commitment. This is a tough league and we’ll have to battle hard to turn round the results.”
