Warlingham RFC's U13s team kicked off their season with a bang, hosting mixed sides from Effingham & Leatherhead RFC and Farnborough RFC on a sunny Sunday.
The young Warly players showcased their skills and determination in two thrilling matches. In the first game against Effingham & Leatherhead RFC, the Warly boys dominated the field, scoring in double figures while maintaining a solid defense that left their opponent’s scoreless. The tries came thick and fast, highlighting the home team's offensive prowess.
The second match was a nail-biter, ending in a 4-4 tie against Farnborough RFC. Despite being 2-0 down at halftime, Farnborough made a strong comeback with three quick trys. However, the resilient Warlingham U13s dug deep and fought back to secure a well-deserved draw.
On-field captains Joe Standish and Isaac Price led by example, inspiring their teammates with exceptional play. It was a fantastic day of junior rugby at Warlingham RFC, with both teams displaying great sportsmanship throughout.
In other games, the Wars U16 continued their strong start to the season with a big 45-31 win over the Kent border against Westcombe Park. A really tough match against a big club.
In senior rugby, a Warlingham club XV beat Streatham - Croydon at Hamsey Green 40 - 15 inspired by many veterans of the club. The match to celebrate club stalwart Jamie Webzell’s 50th birthday was played in front of a big crowd.
