Warlingham Under 14 A and B teams travelled to Esher for the finals of the Waterfall cup. Their opposition being Old Guildfordians A team and Old Reigations B team. The teams went into finals day after some mixed fortunes in the run up.
The A team had a tough waterfall cup campaign after being promoted into Tier 1 which has seen them be on the wrong side of very tight games, losing by 10, 4 and 5 points. A good showing was in order for Finals day and come away with what had been an elusive win. A really strong showing from the team on the Esher 1st team pitch, brilliant runs, lovely structure, big hits, quick breakdowns, and three tries to their one saw them win out 15 - 5. Well done lads.
B team had smashed their way through the waterfall games with only one loss by 2 points. They were up against Old Reigations and were looking to finish their season in style. They absolute dominated the game, playing brilliant rugby, quick rucks, backs running lovely lines. They attacked for 80% of the game but a couple of errors against the run of play saw the OR team score twice. One of the Warly tries was just pure rugby and we were the better team throughout, but were only able to get over the line twice finishing 12 all.
A few more games for the U14 towards the end of the season, looking forward to doing one better at the Worthing 10’s tournament after being runners up last year and then a little trip to St Tropez to see our French rugby brothers at CARF.
