Guildfordians festival and 1st XV curtain raiser

Minis round up - a big weekend for our minis. On the 1st team pitch for a curtain raiser on Saturday and the Guildfordians festival on Sunday.

The Curtain Raiser

The U9s played a curtain raiser to kick off the first home game for the 1st team. In front of a packed crowd, they showed off their ferocious tackling, off loading skills, support play and running lines. The crowd loved it as much as the kids did. A big thank you to all the supporters and 1st team for cheering them on. They loved every minute of it

Warly Minis Back On The Road Again

Warly Minis travelled to Guildfordians RFC for the first festival of the season.

U7’s Guildfordians report:

Our first ever festival, they’re now real rugby players! This age group fielded four teams which required some parents to help with organising the teams during games which we couldn’t be more greatful of - and who knows, maybe some will join the coaching team very soon!…..

All the kids were superb and the coaching team couldn’t have been prouder of how well they played, their passing and tagging was really impressive given it’s the first time they’ve done it in anger, something that was also noted by coaches and parents from other clubs as well. To cap it all off the kids ran hard with the ball in hand and scored some really great.

U8’s Guildfordians Festival report.

A fantastic start to the season. We entered 2 sides and both sides went unbeaten. Some tough/tight games but the kids really worked hard to keep their shape and discipline. Some of the fitness work we have been doing certainly paid off as the kids got used to the larger pitches.

We had 3 new players join us this season and all settled in fantastically and payed significant roles scoring lots of tries and making loads of tags. Great start to the season.

U9’s Guildfordians Festival report.

At last full contact!!! We took 2 teams down and they showed their dominance over everyone. The tackles were flying in, the oppo were getting sat down. The off loading out of the tackle or the popping up of the floor gave us a massive advantage over every team we played against. Compliments were flying from opposition coaches and supporters about the kids and the brand of rugby they played.

In the true spirit of the game, 3 of our boys played for Old Whits in between our games as they were short. So a big thank you to James Kelly, James Macpherson and Dylan Hanley.

The coaches couldn’t have been more pleased with what we saw on the pitch.

U10’s Guildfordians Festival report

The kids all played really well and carried on from where we left off last year with some ferocious tackling and starting to get to grips with the rucking. As coaches we were very impressed with their core rugby skills which are coming along nicely!
