On Sunday we hosted the first of our two Minis Festivals. It was our U7-U9s turn to show what they could do on home turf. The weather was diabolical, but the rugby on display was outstanding.
We had six different clubs come to join us. So a massive thank you to Cobham, Old Cats, Old Reigatians, Purley John Fisher, Sevenoaks and Trinity. Thanks to all their coaches, parents, supporters and most importantly the kids for joining us. I would finally like to thank the volunteers whom made the festival run so smoothly. Robyn Whittle, Emily Porter, Katie Kelly, Nick Hammond, Nick Cramp and Richard Lawson thank you very much.
Also a big thank you to Oli Shaw from the U13s for reffing some of the U9s games as my Lambo got stuck in the mud. He showed maturity in the way he controlled the games and did a fantastic job. He is a true asset to the club.
U7s Festival Report
The U7s put 6 teams out for the festival. Well done everybody. All round amazing play in wind, rain and mud. The coaches were immensely proud of the passing, tagging and teamwork that was on display. It really showed us at our best for our home festival.
U8s Festival Report
It was probably the soggiest festival we have had but the children were fantastic and the standard of rugby we saw from both teams was amazing particularly in the wet conditions.
The kids stuck to the game plan, the defensive line was like a brick wall despite the high winds trying to knock it down. Our passing through the hands was top notch, it was like the kids had glue stuck to their frozen hands. As coaches we could not have been prouder
U9s Festival Report
For the first time season, we put 3 teams into a festival. Everyone in the squad is now prepared fully for the combative side of full contact rugby and all the teams didn’t disappoint.
The kids were like Exocet Missles flying into tackles knocking the oppo to the ground in their wake. The free flowing brand of rugby that we play was on full display despite the torrential rain and high winds. The only thing slowing down the kids was trudging through the treacle like mud. They made the ball do the work for them as the it was passed through the hands with precision. Compliments galore where given by the opposition coaches and parents. We look forward to our next festival at Sutton & Epsom
